Artist Statement
I paint beauty. It’s a word that is bandied around and cheapened by overuse. But beauty is deep and resonates with the human soul. No doubt there is pain. We have probably all been touched by sadness – an illness, death and loss. But there is always hope. Beauty, is the visualization of hope for me. All of creation interests me. I paint nature in the Virginia mountains and fields that I live near as well as the amazing scenery across this country. I paint animals, people and flowers, finding beauty in any subject from the delicate petals of an Iris to the wrinkled smiles of the elderly. I love light and contrast. I hope that you find joy and beauty in every painting.
“Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
